A RESOURCE FOR UNDERSTANDING ESTRANGEMENT
Estrangement is a growing but underrepresented area in mental health discourse.
A NEUTRAL SPACE TO GAIN NEW PERSPECTIVES
While Unanswered Letters was written for and by estranged parents, we hope it will also serve as a resource to expand understanding of estrangement in therapeutic settings.
Our secondary goal is to offer practitioners access to lived experiences that are often missing from clinical literature. This collection reflects a wide range of emotional realities— without prescribing interpretation or outcome.
The narratives found in Unanswered Letters may help therapists, counselors, and researchers, these:
- Deepen empathy for clients navigating estrangement
- Illuminate the coexistence of conflicting emotions
- Challenge simplified or one-sided frameworks
- Increase awareness of the impact of estrangement in different cultures
This book (and related projects) doesn't advocate for reconciliation or separation. Instead, it provides perspective grounded in real voices.
FUTURE DIRECTIONS
As the project evolves, additional resources may include audio storytelling, music, or visual art formats and expanded thematic collections to further support professional understanding.
