WHY THIS BOOK
Many parents live with estrangement in isolation, carrying grief that has no clear place to go.
Often kept a shameful secret, it's more common than many realize and may be increasing due to cultural or generational trends, including social media.
Conversations about family rupture are often shaped by advice, assumptions, or pressure to reconcile.
There's also a growing amount of excellent, targeted RESOURCES in the mental health field.
What’s missing is a place to sit with the reality of what is: the unanswered questions, the contradictions, and the enduring presence of love alongside of loss.
Unanswered Letters was created to hold those realities, offer support, and perhaps inspire.
Phase 1 will bring together diverse voices and experiences into a book. Subsequent activities may include audio storytelling, music and visual arts.
Every activity in this project aims to reflect the complexity of estrangement and need for parents to express their true feelings in a safe place- without reducing it to a problem to be solved.
